Instructions for use

Acute bacterial diarrhea that occurs without a deterioration in general condition, fever, or systemic symptoms.

Method of administration and dosage

Take orally. The dosage regimen is determined on an individual basis, depending on the patient’s age and the dosage form used. For children aged 6 to 18: the dose is 100–200 mg (1–2 tablets) 3 times a day; the interval between doses is 8 hours. For adults: the dose is 200 mg (2 tablets) 4 times a day; the interval between doses is 6 hours. The treatment duration is 5–7 days, but no longer than 7 days. If there is no improvement within the first 3 days, you should see a doctor.

Special instructions and precautions for use

When treating diarrhea with nifuroxazide, rehydration therapy must be administered concurrently. In cases of bacterial diarrhea accompanied by a deterioration in general health, fever, or symptoms of intoxication or infection, you should consult a doctor to determine whether systemic antibiotics should be prescribed. If symptoms of hypersensitivity (shortness of breath, rash, itching) occur, stop taking nifuroxazide. Alcohol consumption is prohibited during treatment with nifuroxazide.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to nitrofuran derivatives; pregnancy; pediatric use—depending on the dosage form. Use with caution in cases of liver disease, alcoholism, traumatic brain injury, or brain disorders; during breastfeeding; and in children.
